Socially Awkward from Pepper Hibbs on Vimeo.
Shiny Around The Edges sent along this wonderfully ambitious video, a collaboration between the group along with Peter Salisbury, Meredith Buie and featuring the striking interpretative talents of Sarah Gamblin, an associate professor of dance at TWU. Gamblin has toured the world with two different companies, Bebe Miller and Bill Young And Dancers respectively.
As a physical representation of the inherent dreariness in the accompanying track, entitled “Socially Awkward,” Gamblin adds a transcendent visual element that we aren’t used to seeing in most local videos. She simply outclasses most would-be local video stars in a way that’s immediately apparent.
Shiny’s Jenny Seman will join Gamblin in performance at The Out Of The Loop Fringe Festival, to be held at Addison’s WaterTower Theatre this Saturday, March, 5th. And of course, Shiny Around The Edges’ full lineup can be seen exactly a week later at their 35 Conferette appearance at Andy’s Bar on the 11th.
