Tonight the wonderful documentary about the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, A Surprise in Texas, will air on KERA. It is the film’s third trip though the area this year, having played at the Dallas International Film Festival this past spring, as well as enjoying a run at the Angelika a few months later. The film is well worth catching, if you have been foolish enough to miss it so far. During the Dallas IFF, I had a chance to speak with the documentary’s director, Peter Rosen.
