If the thought of “two lovers entwined passing you by” makes you as miserable as it did the people’s poet laureate Esteban Morrissey, then you should not watch the video at the bottom of this page. Especially not today. In it, multiple Denton residents, artists, and musicians get rather comfortable with one another in the back of a stationary vehicle, at first shifting uncomfortably, before becoming lip-locked and especially grope-happy.

Subtle it is not. Guys and gals, gals and gals, but noticeably no guys and guys. No plot, no story line. Just endless smooching. A lot of people have gotten in a lot of trouble for a lack of plot. I believe it’s called “PWP” (Plot? What plot?) in “the business.”

Joking of course, but personally, I’m a little uptight. I’m glad I only have to type about this, rather than participate. Trust me, you’d rather watch a 4-hour eye surgery. As with all of the 35 Denton Videos, they are all excellently produced and provocative. This one just has me feeling a little strange. You see, when I woke up this morning, I didn’t think I’d get a chance to see Teenage Cool Kids-member Daniel Ziegler’s setup move, where he dramatically removes his glasses before kissing a woman. It’s a little uncomfortable. I’ve seen this kid around for years. He’s still a teenager, right? That’s what his band name says. He must be. After all, Mr. Ziegler, aren’t you supposed to let her remove your glasses? I’m no expert.

In keeping with the theme so far, the lovebirds do their thing to a cover of the just-announced 35 D act Best Coast’s “I Want To,” as performed by the extremely employed Jeremy Buller. Buller performs and has performed with Comrade, Bosque Brown, The Hope Trust, Ok Sweetheart, Coves, and it’s tiring to list anything beyond that. The track’s originally sparse girl-group rhythms are updated with drum machines and synthesizers that appropriately build with the onscreen physical activity. Buller emphasizes the longing sentiment of the original, and does a convincing enough job that perhaps it’s time to perform solo more often.

Best Coast is just one of eleven new acts that have been added to the bill, which is now complete. Other acts include, Teengirl Fantasy, Typhoon, Millionyoung, Cowboy and Indian, David Ramirez, Pond, The Rassle, American Royalty, Danny Malone, and Holy Fiction.  Four day-wristbands for the event are 65 dollars, and day passes start at 35 dollars.
