My fellow commuters are into escapism these days. Nearly every book I’ve spotted on the DART trains lately was genre fiction, usually one in a series of thrillers, murder mysteries, or sword-and-sorcery epics.

April 27, southbound Red Line arriving downtown at 8:52 a.m.:

The Liar by Stephen Fry

Running Blind by Lee Child

Throne of Jade by Naomi Novik

The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly

April 29, northbound Red Line leaving downtown at 5:51 p.m.:

The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss

Open Season by C.J. Box

Malice by Lisa Jackson

Barbara Bush: A Memoir by Barbara Bush

May 2, southbound Red Line pulling into downtown at 8:52 a.m.:

A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin
