The Dallas Theater Center’s Dividing the Estate, its contribution to the Horton Foote Festival, had its official opening over the weekend, and as Lawson Taitte writes, it features the return of two actors, Nance Williamson and Kurt Rhoads, who were members of the DTC’s acting company in one of its earlier iterations.

That acting company disbanded after Richard Hamburger became artistic director in 1992, and Williamson and Rhoads moved to New York’s Lower East Side. Although the two returned in 1995 to play the leads in Dancing at Lughnasa and Rhoads appeared in the title role of the Theater Center’s Henry IV last fall, this homecoming feels different.

“It’s odd. The other day at the official opening of the Foote Festival, all these people looked so familiar,” Williamson says. “It feels like a lifetime ago, but so much is still here.”
